Frequently Asked Questions:

Technical Gear Required:

  1. Minimum bike requirements (tire size, tread, etc.) – If the race is done correctly, a typical weekend warrior will love their bike at some sections and hate it in others. But a minimum bike recommendation would be a 29inch (700) wheel size, with a 40mm tire width.
  2. It is mandatory that all participants have a GPS unit with the course downloaded and providing guidance. A downloadable GPX file will be emailed to all registered participants the week of Aug 10. Please be familiar with the operation of your unit before arriving for the event. If you don’t have a bike computer or need help please email or call Jeff. Volunteers will be available at the pre-race meeting on Friday evening to help with your device. NOTE that cell service is not consistent throughout all race courses.
  3. HELMETS are mandatory.
  4. Headlight (it’ll still be dark at 5:00 am) – not mandatory, but would be important to have for the 200km 5 am start.
  5. Every rider should carry their own repair kit/bag. We will have bike repair aid stations on the course. We will also have people sweeping behind the last rider in the race.
